We'll be posting some pictures in the next few days of the event.

Joke of the Day: Not Giving Up Without A Fight
A big-city California lawyer went duck hunting in rural Texas. He shot and dropped a bird, but it fell into a farmer's field on the other side of a fence. As he climbed over the fence, an elderly farmer drove up on his tractor and asked him what he was doing.
The litigator responded, "I shot a duck and it fell into this field, and now I'm going to retrieve it." The old farmer replied, "This is my property, and you are not coming over here." The indignant lawyer said, "I am one of the best trial attorneys in the US and if you don't let me get that duck, I'll sue you and take everything you own."
The old farmer smiled and said, "Apparently, you don't know how we do things in Texas. We settle small disagreements like this with the Texas Three-Kick Rule." The lawyer asked, "What is the Texas Three-Kick Rule?" The farmer replied, "Well, first I kick you three times and then you kick me three times, and so on, back and forth, until someone gives up."
The attorney quickly thought about the proposed contest and decided that he could easily take the old codger. He agreed to abide by the local custom. The old farmer slowly climbed down from the tractor and walked up to the city feller. His first kick planted the toe of his heavy work boot into the lawyer's groin and dropped him to his knees. His second kick nearly wiped the man's nose off his face. The barrister was flat on his belly when the farmer's third kick to a kidney nearly caused him to give up.
The lawyer summoned every bit of his will and managed to get to his feet and said, "Okay, you old coot! Now, it's my turn!" The old farmer smiled and said, "No, I give up. You can have the duck!"

Keeping the Terrace and Sundeck Clean
In an effort to keep the sundeck and 8th and 9th floor terraces more clean, we've come up with a few suggestions:
1) Pick up after yourself. Don't leave your trash, be it plastic cups, food wrappers, or other such things lying around.
2) Cigarette butts are meant for ashtrays or the trash cans. If there's no ashtray, step on your cigarette to put it out, and then throw it away.
3) Please avoid throwing any of the aforementioned items off of the 8th or 9th floor terrace. Yes, it may keep the terraces clean, but it makes the sundeck trashy.
4) If you break glass, sweep it up so no one gets hurt. Don't rely on the maintenance crew to clean up after everything.

October and Fall
After waking up today and getting ready for the day, I walked outside and felt how it actually felt like Fall! The crisp cool air and the clear blue sky and the look of the trees as they are about to start turning colors were all signs that September has come and gone, bringing with it October.
Happy October everyone!

Alex, I'll take Internet Upgrade for $6000
That's right! Our internet is going to to be upgraded by the end of October. The speed will more then accomodate for the building being at full capacity. To add on to the improvements, Wi-Fi is being installed in the public areas. This will all help to contribute to peace of mind as you surf the web, do your homework, and play those multiplayer online video games.

Autumnal Equinox
Last week was the the Autumnal Equinox, AKA, the start of fall! Fall is a very beautiful time here in Colorado with the vareity of colors that the trees turn. While we know spare time is a rarity, if you can spare some time on a weekend, here is a few things that you can do to enjoy the colors and smells of fall:
1) Drive up 1-70 West for a couple hours. It realls starts getting beautiful once you get to Vail and anything afterwards. We realize you don't want to just drive around for a couple hours and then come back home, so stop in one of the mountain towns and do a little shopping. If you want to make the 3 hour drive, go all the way to Glenwood Springs, not only will the hot springs be a great place to relax, but the drive thru Glenwood Canyon is breathtaking.
2) A little closer to home, go hiking through Waterton Canyon in Littleton or Golden Canyon State Park. It will be well worth it.
3) Plain and simple, have a picnic at a park nearby.

Summer Love
Summer lovin, had me a blast!
Summer lovin, happened so fast!
That's right! Summer's sadly on its way out. Have you had your summer fun yet? Fell in love, had a fling, gone to baseball games, BBQ'd, gone hiking, swimming, slept in, seen a sunrise? If not, get on it... Time is limited.
It got colder, that's where it ends
So I told her, we'd still be friends
Then we made, a true love vow
Wonder what, she's doing now
Summer days, drifting away, but...
Oh, those summer nigh igh igh ights!

SPAIN Wins 1st World Cup Ever!

To Spain the glory of a World Cup triumph in which they prevailed over a deplorable Holland side that was reduced to 10 men when the English referee Howard Webb eventually dismissed the Dutch defender John Heitinga with a second caution in the 109th minute. Cesc Fábregas, on as substitute, fed Andrés Iniesta to score the winner seven minutes later.

Colorado Rockies
As a long time baseball fan, and an overly devoted Colorado Rockies fan, I feel like it is imperative to educate everyone on how special this team is and encourage everyone, whether a Rockies fan or not, to go attend games.
Reasons to go to a Rockies baseball game:
1) Ballpark nachos may possibly be the most delicious thing on the whole planet. There is nothing as good as a tortilla chip dipped in in cheesy nacho sauce topped off with a jalapeno!
2) While in my opinion not quite as good, having a ballpark hot dog is still a delicacy. Only in a ballpark does a hot dog taste so satisfying.
3) While food is all well and good, the real reason you are there is to watch some baseball, and the Rockies are among the best at playing good quality and exciting baseball.
4) You get to dance to all the music that is played both when the batters walk up to the plate and when the Rockies blast a home run. (Dancing is optional of course, but entirely much more fun then sitting down)
5) The Rockies play their best baseball when they are playing at home in Coors Field. As of this posting, they have won 30 of their 45 games at home. Thats a 66% chance that they will win when you go to the game.
6) Tickets are relatively cheap when compared to other ballparks in the nation. Sitting in the Rockpile cost $4. As the average game is 3 hours long, thats boils down to $1.25/hour that you would be paying for a nights entertainment. Thats hard to beat!
7) It is a fun environment to take someone on a casual date. Even if the Rockies lose, you'll still probably have had a good night
8) The fountains in center field shoot up when the Rockies hit a home run!
9) If you're sitting in the upper deck on an evening game, their are some beautiful sunsets to take in.
So get on out there and root root root for the ROCKIES!

USA in the Quarterfinals of the World Cup!

The U.S. Men’s National Team won Group C and advanced on to the second round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup with a dramatic 1-0 win against Algeria. Despite numerous attacks, the U.S. was held scoreless until Landon Donovan scored in the first minute of stoppage time to put the U.S. on top. The victory, combined with England’s 1-0 win against Slovenia, gives the U.S. first place in their group for the first time in modern U.S. World Cup history. They’ll play next on Saturday, June 26 against the runner-up from Group D.

1st Day of Summer!!

Today is the 1st day of Summer, also known as the summer solstice.
Sol + stice derives from a combination of Latin words meaning "sun" + "to stand still." As the days lengthen, the sun rises higher and higher until it seems to stand still in the sky.
As a major celestial event, the Summer Solstice results in the longest day and the shortest night of the year. The Northern Hemisphere celebrates in June, but the people on the Southern half of the earth have their longest summer day in December.

Renter's Insurance Program
Last night, our Community Ambassador Amy shared her knowledge about renter's insurance with our community. She also had some great pamphlets and contact information for an agent that she would recommend for anyone interested in purchasing insurance. Extra pamphlets are available in the office for those who missed out. And congratulations to Chloe Hansen, who won the $10 gift card to Jordan's Pub just for showing up!
